A short seawatch from Oliva Beach

Sunday 28th December :- As we head for the end of 2008 I decided to go down to Oliva Beach for a spot of sea-watching, but the inclement weather cut things a little short. However the hour I did manage was good with the star species being my 2nd & 3rd Great Skuas seen off this watchpoint. I also enjoyed views of a couple of Gannets, a few Balearic Shearwaters, a flock of 19 Teal, Cormorants, Great Crested Grebe, Sandwich Terns and Yellow legged Gulls. A small flock of gulls on the beach consisted of Audouins, Lesser Black backed & Black headed Gulls with a few Sanderlings chasing the tide and Kentish Plovers picking insects off the sand. Definitely a worthwhile 60 minutes.
